Websites that contain a large number of irrelevant links are called link farms. Google treats link farms as spam as it has always encouraged getting backlinks naturally. Therefore, websites may be penalized by Google for building spammy links from sources such as link farms. Link Farming is one of the methods adopted by websites that wish to rank higher in search results in periods when only the number of backlinks is important. However, today, this method has become obsolete as Google pays attention to the number, as well as quality and naturality, of backlinks. Even if it is used, it will not be long before Google detects it and penalizes the respective website.
