Keyword cannibalization is when a given user query is targeted by multiple pages belonging to the same website. In some websites, there may be multiple pages that target the same keywords. These similar pages will be ranked in the query results of the same keyword, competing with each other. In order to solve this problem, the first course of action should be to determine the performance of the pages by means of Search Console or different tools. Then, by reducing the keyword density on the lesser-performing pages ranked in the relevant query, the page with the best performance can be brought to the fore. Keyword cannibalization problems can also be solved using a 301 redirect or canonical tag depending on the situation.
